The Story of...

A Toast To Ceremony

Togekyo (translation: peach paradise) champions our desire to celebrate significant occasions through ceremony.

Togekyo exhibits the importance of ceremony in the region surrounding the Hakushu Distillery, the Yamanashi prefecture.
This drink was inspired by two major ceremonies:
 The Peach Blossom Festival
 Yoshida Fire Festival

As winter ends the Yamanashi prefecture is enveloped with beautiful peach blossoms, beginning a month long festival that celebrates the coming of spring and good harvest.

The Yoshida Fire Festival is commonly known in Japan as one of the three most unique festivals in the country. Here, we celebrate the end of the Mt. Fuji climbing season and the coming of autumn through the art of fire. The whole city of Fujiyoshida is illuminated in gorgeous firelight as they carry torches and shrines as they pay tributes to the gods.

These ceremonies are imperative to the culture of the Yamanashi Prefecture and form the heart of Hakushu Whisky.
